I wrote this on somebody's car. In sharpie.
With permission, of course. The car was entered into a demolition derby in New Brunswick. They came in...5th! That's a lucky digit. Err...where have we been for the last 3 months? I have no excuse, but here's a nice picture of the fan club executive sporting the trendiest in hang over fashion while lying on the kitchen floor. That t-shirt was lent to me by a Jets/Flames fan. No one can resist that Edmonton charm, despite its hockey team's atrocious play of the yester-season.
I've received an update from our Yaroslavl fan/correspondent, and she says that he has been signed for this season with Yaroslavl and is set to play in a pre-season tournament. Also, he is apparently a "very snappy dresser."

We need a photo of this snappy dresser!!!
Ulanov's teachings will not only extend to Oiler prospects Mikhnov and Grebeshkov next season in Yaroslavl. Sergei Federov's younger brother, Fedor(really original first name) will be skating along the cold war vet along with probably the most overpaid player of at least Ottawa Senator history, Alexi Yashin.
Except that Grebeshkov will be in Edmonton this season, and I doubt that Mikhnov will be back to Edmonton. Apparently he's scoring up a storm in the Super League, though.
The Ulanov charm has rubbed off on him.
Has your Yaroslavl contact commented on Grebeshkov at all? Very curious about his game. If you already touched on this, my apologies.

Actually we (Loko) sent Fyodor Federov packing mid-way thru last season because he was no good. And Mikhnov has signed with Yaro so he won't be in Canada this year. And Grebeshkov is a great attacking defenceman but his defensive abilities could use some Ulanov-like polish (ie he constantly gets caught up ice. But he has a great shot and should help out the Oilers. If not, feel free to send him back.
Oh, and Ulanov for some reason didn't go with the team to Switzerland for their preseason tournament (on now)... No news is bad news. I hope this doesn't mean Loko changed their mind...
Simone,
Is it true Grebs has taken a "liking" to blocking shots? Wish I can remember where I read that.
Appreciated your previous comments by the way.

Hmmm, if he has, then he only began over the summer. He doesn't use the body much, but his position play on the PK is pretty good. In Yaroslavl he was always teamed up with a defensive defenceman, so I guess it depends on who he's partnered with in Edmonton.
With 9 NHL ready defencemen now, it will be interesting to see what happens with the roster and line ups.
I hope Grebs has a good season over here. Am quite excited for the season to start already, and am looking forward to the Super Series to begin Monday, too.
